The month of March provided us with plenty of goodies from the Welfare Committee and here's a catch-up to what went down.
Ice Cream Giveaway
On the 8th and 9th March, if you passed by the Science Students' Hub, you would have seen students in a queue, and spotted some Milo ice cream as well as Cremeria ice cream in the hands of your fellow faculty mates. The Welfare Committee carried a vote earlier in February to ask Science students' preference of ice cream. You voted, and they heard. Each student was entitled to one ice cream and could choose between the Milo ice cream or the Cremeria ice cream which had a variety of flavors to choose from - Almond Vanilla, Chocolate, and Mint. What better way to beat the heat?
Next up, on the 13th March, a free yoga session was held in our very own S16 tutorial rooms. Aimed to allow Science students to take a break from their academic responsibilities, two different time slots were offered so students could choose the slot most suited to their timetables. Whether you're a yoga expert or a complete newbie, the Welfare Committee got you covered. An instructor from The Yoga Co. came down to teach the sessions. From simple stretches to yoga moves, every participant was able to take at least a few yoga techniques home.
Later that week, Canine Chums was held on 15th March. SOSD, a dog shelter run by volunteers, brought five dogs of varying age and breed to S16. Students splitted themselves into small groups so to not frighten our special guests, and began the meet and greet. Each dog had a volunteer with them to look after them as well as to introduce them to our students. Students were able to pet the dogs, feed them treats, and take some photos. Photo-taking was no easy feat as you can see from the photo below - it requires that one in a million chance for everyone (dogs included) to look at the camera together. Say Cheese!
Milo Van & Yogurt Giveaway
Missed the events mentioned above? Well, fret not because the Welfare Committee still had tricks up their sleeves. On the 26th March, there was a Milo Van at the foyer of S16. Three hours of non-stop Milo goodness. Many students grabbed a cup before heading to their lectures and tutorials, and some were even spotted getting their own water bottles filled with Milo. Then on the 28th and 29th March, the Welfare Committee gave out Meiji Yogurt Drinks as well as free tickets to ADEX Singapore 2018 outside the Science Student's Hub.
With so many events and giveaways, March was indeed a great month of Welfare for Science students.
